How to Change the Blogger Logo (Favicon) in the Address Bar

If you are building a website using Blogger (or any other engine) it is generally a good idea to create your own favicon. A favicon is the little icon that appears next to your website's name in your window or tab.

It is a pretty simple fix that will make your blog or website look more professional, and less like a generic site. One of the great things about blogger is that you can build an inexpensive website without paying anyone to make it for you...But no one has to know that! Let's get started.

1. Pick an image
Your favicon is a very small image, so it needs to be incredibly simple. A letter or simple design work great. Do a quick Google search for favicon and you will get thousands of examples!
If you don't have a logo, I recommend using a letter. The one shown in the image above is one I made for myself until I had time to make one I really liked (I still have not made a new one...). If you still don't have any ideas, you can make one in the next step.

2. Use a Favicon Generator
I used this site for mine, but there are many others available for free. You do not have to register here, and it does not ask you for any personal info. The reason I use a generator is because it automagically makes the image the correct dimensions. You can use an image you already have, or you can make your own (like this creepy mustache guy).

To use your own image, use the import image tab on the left.

3. Download your image
There should be a box near the bottom of the screen that looks like this.

Download the favicon to your computer! Save it on your desktop, or wherever you prefer.

4. Visit the Layout Tab in Blogger
...And choose to edit your favicon.

Upload the image you just downloaded...and you are DONE!

P.S. It may not show up right away, so don't freak out.
